Manama, September 08 (QNA) - Bahrain expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the Houthi attacks, which targeted a number of civilian, economic, and vital facilities and sites in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, resulting in injuries to a number of civilians, including women and children.
In a statement, the Bahraini Foreign Ministry affirmed that these attacks, along with the continued targeting of commercial vessels and the threat to the freedom and safety of international navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab, represent a dangerous escalation, a flagrant violation of the rules of international law, international humanitarian law, the Charter of the United Nations, and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and a blatant challenge to the relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution (2216) and Resolution (2817), which called for an end to all support for armed groups in the region and a halt to actions aimed at interfering with maritime trade.
Bahrain also affirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its complete support for all measures it takes to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability, and to protect its citizens, residents, and vital facilities.
The Bahraini Foreign Ministry stressed Bahrain’s call on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities and take a firm stance to deter these criminal attacks and hold those responsible accountable, and to implement relevant Security Council resolutions. This would contribute to safeguarding regional and international security and stability, protecting civilians and civilian facilities, ensuring the freedom and safety of international navigation, and safeguarding the security of energy supplies and the movement of global trade.
