Beirut, September 07 (QNA) - Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun stated Monday that Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon target the US-brokered framework agreement and undermine efforts to de-escalate regional tensions.
Following a meeting with French Justice Minister Gerald Darmanin, Aoun affirmed Lebanon's commitment to diplomacy and called on Israel to abide by the signed accord.
He condemned attacks on civilians, infrastructure, emergency responders, and places of worship as grave violations of international law.
Aoun also supported renewing UNIFIL's mandate, welcoming a French-Italian proposal for a European force if UNIFIL withdraws.
He stressed that while Lebanon adheres to the agreement, Israel relies on unfounded pretexts to justify continued strikes. (QNA)
