LoginFirst Local Camel Race Kicks Off at Al Shahaniya
Doha, September 07 (QNA) - The 2026-2027 camel racing season opened Monday at Al Shahaniya with the first local race, running through Sep. 18 over 12 morning sessions.
Opening day featured 24 two-kilometer rounds in the Open Haqayeq category for Their Excellencies the Sheikhs, with 13 rounds for Bakkar (female) and 11 for Qa'dan (male).
Dajjah, owned by HE Sheikh Saud bin Ali bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, won the main Bakkar round in 2:52.41 minutes.
Al Fasil, owned by HE Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman bin Saud Al-Thani, claimed the main Qa'dan round in 2:55.20 minutes.
Shaheen, owned by HE Sheikh Saud bin Faisal bin Muhammad Al-Thani, posted the day's best time at 2:51.39 minutes in the fourth round. (QNA)
