Astana, September 28 (QNA) - Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has dismissed Defense Minister Dauren Kosanov, days after 14 servicemen died during a military exercise in the Caspian Sea.
Tokayev appointed Aidos Sakenovich Myrzakhmetov as the new Defense Minister, replacing Kosanov, according to presidential decrees.
The president also ordered the formation of a commission to conduct a comprehensive review of the situation at the Ministry of Defense following the incident.
The incident occurred on September 24 in the Mangystau Region, when 17 servicemen were swept into the Caspian Sea during naval exercises amid deteriorating weather conditions. Fourteen servicemen died, while three others were rescued. (QNA)
