Doha, September 27 (QNA) - The Qatari Forum for Authors, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, held on Sunday an awareness raising seminar regarding family in the Digital Age.

The event was held as part of the Qatari Forum for Authors' efforts in addressing current social and technological developments and in raising families' awareness regarding pedagogical and cybersecurity matters linked to the challenges posed by the digital space and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

During the seminar, digital transformation, AI, and cybersecurity consultant and expert, Dr. Abdullah Salhot said that the changes affecting families nowadays are not limited to social media, rather, they are affecting family dynamics altogether.

Excessive screen time is not the real problem here, Dr. Salhot added, the lack of understanding of what constitutes responsible and balanced use, is.

He called for striking a balance that allows for reaping the benefits of technology, yet without sacrificing family time and real-world human interaction.

Rapidly evolving changes, including the emergence of AI, as well as an entire array of new jobs, require a reassessment of some traditional pedagogical concepts and greater focus on more pressing matters as to keep pace with current updates, Dr. Salhot noted. (QNA)
