Doha, September 27 (QNA) - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), through its Intellectual Property Rights Protection Department, organized the fourth workshop of 2026 on combating trademark infringement and inspecting genuine and counterfeit products.

The event was held in collaboration with the Gulf BPG and brought together representatives of appropriate government authorities in Qatar.

The workshop was intended to promote intellectual property rights, as well as raise awareness of how to surveil and spot trademark infringement, in addition to taking stock of state-of-the-art techniques for counterfeiting commercial products, thereby helping enhance intellectual property rights protection and foster a secure and enduring business environment.

In addition, the event addressed several themes pertaining to identifying key signs and indicators that help detect counterfeit products and trademark infringement.

It also reviewed modern models and methods for distinguishing between genuine and counterfeit products, which ultimately contribute to bolstering the efficiency of inspection and surveillance, as well as enforcing intellectual property rights in conformity with applicable regulations.

The ministry reemphasized its commitment to continuing its awareness and training programs to enhance the capabilities of professional workforces and law enforcement officers, as well as strengthen coordination and cooperation with relevant stakeholders and the private sector, thereby fostering a secure business environment conducive to investment in Qatar.
