New York, September 24 (QNA) - HE Minister of Public Health Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud affirmed the State of Qatar's commitment to attracting the most prominent specialized international centers to support its ongoing efforts to advance cancer patient care. He pointed out that the memorandum of understanding (MoU) that was signed on Wednesday between the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) would boost the significant progress achieved in treatment, research, aNd disease prevention, while contributing to the delivery of the highest standards of patient care. 
On the sidelines of signing the MoU, His Excellency said that this partnership will enable both parties to establish a distinguished partnership aimed at enhancing cancer patient care in Qatar and the region, and supporting the development and expansion of scientific research and innovation, in alignment with the priorities of the National Health Strategy and Qatar National Vison 2030 (QNV 2030). 
For his part, President and CEO of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Dr. Selwyn M. Vickers, said that the proposed partnership will bring over 140 years of clinical excellence, scientific discovery, and innovation to patients in Qatar and the region, delivering an advanced level of cancer care and reinforcing the Center's mission to eradicate cancer for a lifetime. 
In turn, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Scott M. Stuart, said that MSK's board of trustees continuously evaluates global opportunities that would advance its mission, noting that the proposed partnership has become an institutional priority, given that it addresses a significant regional need and aligns with the Center's capabilities and specialized expertise. 
The MoU is expected to establish a framework for cooperation in the fields of precision medicine, cancer research, and innovation, encompassing genomics, cell therapies, cancer vaccines, antibody-based platforms, and clinical trials. 
The collaboration involves leveraging advanced cloud computing and artificial intelligence capabilities to support clinical care, scientific research, diagnostics, drug discovery, and innovation in oncology. This contributes to translating the latest scientific and clinical advancements from MSK into improved treatment options and outcomes for patients receiving care in Qatar. (QNA)
