Nagoya/Japan, September 24 (QNA) - Qatar's 3x3 basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026) currently being held in Japan, after defeating Mongolia 18-14 in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
Qatar will face Iran in the semifinals after the Iranian team secured its place in the last four with a commanding 21-3 victory over Japan.
Qatar reached the quarterfinals after topping Group C with a perfect record, securing three consecutive victories over Indonesia 10-7, Chinese Taipei 18-15 and Bahrain 21-15. The team then continued its winning run with its quarterfinal victory over Mongolia.
In the other semifinal, the Philippines will take on South Korea. The Philippines advanced after edging Chinese Taipei 21-19, while South Korea booked its place in the last four with a 22-13 victory over China.
Qatar will look to maintain its strong run in the competition and secure a place in the final as it bids to contend for one of the medals. (QNA)
