New York, September 22 (QNA) - Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam met Tuesday with members of the Lebanese community in the United States, highlighting that his government has a genuine opportunity to alter Lebanon's course and build a nation in which Lebanese can restore their confidence in their country.
He pointed to consequential and momentous decisions concerning the issue of weapons, assuring the community that the government would continue enforcing those decisions, whatever difficulties it may face.
The government's objective is crystal clear: to ensure that the state alone has full authority across the entire Lebanese territory, Salam stressed, reiterating that decisions on war and peace will be made solely by the state, while the military and legitimate security forces alone will be responsible for protecting the Lebanese people.
Salam also affirmed that his government has been operating in parallel to secure an Israeli withdrawal, ensure the return of residents to southern Lebanon, and launch the recovery and reconstruction process, stressing that there can be no economy without stability and no investment without a state.
He also highlighted the adoption of key financial reforms, continued efforts to restore fiscal order and recover deposits through the proposed Financial Gap Law, and work toward reaching an agreement with the International Monetary Fund. (QNA)
