Doha, September 21 (QNA) - The Qatar-Sri Lanka Joint Committee on Labour held its regular meeting in Doha on Monday.

The meeting was co-chaired by HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani and HE Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Arun Hemachandra.

The meeting addressed the latest developments in bilateral relations in the labour sector and related matters, with particular focus on strengthening cooperation in regulating the recruitment of workers. The two sides also discussed increasing reliance on qualified and trained workers to meet the needs of Qatar's labour market, in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.

Both sides voiced their appreciation for the strong relations between the State of Qatar and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, underscoring the importance of continuing the Joint Committee's meetings to further strengthen the strategic partnership and bilateral relations between the two countries in the labour sector, while supporting closer cooperation in the period ahead.
