Central Bank of Oman Issues OMR 14.5 Million in Treasuries
Muscat, September 21 (QNA) - The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) announced that the total value of Government Treasury Bills allotted for this week's issue amounted to OMR 14.5 million.
In a statement today, the CBO said the value of Treasury Bills with a 91-day maturity was OMR 9 million, with an average accepted price of OMR 99.004 and a minimum accepted price of OMR 98.985 per OMR 100. The average discount rate stood at 3.99428 percent, while the average yield was 4.03447 percent.
The value of Treasury Bills with the 182-day maturity period was OMR 5.5 million, with an average accepted price of OMR 97.981 and a minimum accepted price of OMR 97.950 per OMR 100. The average discount rate stood at 4.04928 percent, while the average yield was 4.13277 percent.
The statement noted that the interest rate on repurchase operations (Repo) with the Central Bank of Oman for these Treasury Bills was 4.5 percent, while the discount rate on the Treasury Bills Discounting Facility with the CBO stood at 5 percent.
Treasury Bills are short-term, highly secured financial instruments issued by the Ministry of Finance to provide licensed commercial banks with an investment outlet for their surplus funds, with the Central Bank of Oman acting as the issue manager. (QNA)
