London, September 21 (QNA) - Flights in parts of the United Kingdom were disrupted on Monday following a new technical malfunction affecting the UK's air navigation services provider, the second such incident in two weeks.
British aviation sector data showed that the problem particularly affected airspace controlled by the Scottish authorities, prompting restrictions on air traffic as a safety precaution.
The malfunction caused delays to many departing and arriving flights at Scottish airports, with disruptions also spreading to Northern Ireland and northern England.
Meanwhile, British Airways and easyJet announced the immediate cancellation of flights. Cirium, an aviation data and analysis company, said 24 flights had so far been canceled at British airports, although many flights continued to operate normally.
The latest disruption came less than two weeks after a major incident at the authority's center in England caused travel disruptions for hundreds of thousands of passengers. It also came just three days after the authority issued a preliminary report on that incident, in which it pledged to continuously improve the vital service they provide. (QNA)
