MOL Wraps Up Three-Month Heat-Stress Safety Campaign
Doha, September 16 (QNA) - The Ministry of Labor (MOL), represented by the Occupational Safety and Health Department, has concluded its three-month 2026 awareness and inspection campaign on the risks of heat stress.
According to a statement by MOL, the campaign was part of its ongoing efforts to enhance occupational safety and health standards and protect workers from risks associated with working in hot weather, in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Ministry's strategic objectives of providing a safe and sustainable working environment.
Throughout the campaign, MOL intensified its awareness and inspection efforts, targeting workers, employers and various relevant groups at workplaces, in partnership with several government and private-sector entities and strategic partners, foremost among them the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) and the Workers' Support and Insurance Fund.
This is alongside private-sector institutions and companies, contributing to delivering awareness messages to a broad segment of beneficiaries and enhancing compliance with preventive measures aimed at reducing the risks of heat stress.
The campaign featured an integrated program of awareness and inspection activities, including seminars, workshops and educational lectures, alongside intensified field inspection visits to monitor compliance with occupational safety and health requirements and the approved preventive measures during the summer period.
These efforts have contributed to strengthening workers' safety and reducing the risks arising from exposure to high temperatures.
The campaign also featured positive engagement and a broad response from employers and workers to the guidance and requirements issued by MOL.
This contributed to increased awareness of the preventive measures to be followed at workplaces and strengthened compliance with occupational safety and health requirements, including the regulation of working hours and rest periods, the provision of drinking water and suitable rest areas, and the implementation of the necessary precautionary measures to protect workers during periods of high temperatures and humidity.
Coinciding with the campaign's concluding activities, the department organized a series of awareness seminars on the risks of heat stress.
The seminars featured awareness and guidance lectures addressing the health risks arising from direct exposure to high temperatures, ways of preventing such risks, and the measures that should be followed to ensure workers' safety when working in hot weather.
The lectures were delivered with the participation of a collection of specialists, alongside representatives from the Health Promotion Department at MOPH and the Fund.
Through these awareness initiatives, MOL continues to strengthen the occupational safety and health system across workplaces, supporting the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 to build a society in which its members enjoy health and safety.
At the conclusion of the campaign, the Ministry expressed its appreciation for the level of cooperation demonstrated by public- and private-sector institutions, strategic partners, employers and workers in support of awareness-raising efforts and compliance with approved requirements.
It affirmed that the positive results achieved reflect growing awareness of the importance of occupational safety and health and reinforce a culture of prevention in the workplace.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to implement specialized programs and initiatives that contribute to protecting the workforce and boosting quality of working life, thereby supporting national efforts to build a safer, more sustainable and productive labor market. (QNA)
