Jerusalem Governorate Warns of Expanding Settlement Activity Northwest of the Occupied City
Occupied Jerusalem, September 16 (QNA) - There are ominous rumblings of expanding settlement activity in the town of Beit Iksa, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, the Governorate warned in a statement Wednesday.
The statement added that the facilities and equipment being established in Khirbet Al-Alawneh, which serves as a recreational area and leisure destination for residents of the town, are suggestive of an ominous move by settlers to expand their presence onto new lands and impose a fait accompli on the ground.
The statement cautioned that the activity could expand in the coming phase, potentially extending to additional Palestinian lands.
The Governorate further stressed that the danger posed by these developments lies not only in the structures established so far, but also in the potential expansion of land seizures in surrounding areas, restrictions on landowners' access to their property, the construction of roads to serve the outposts, and efforts to consolidate a permanent settler presence on the hills and elevated areas.
