World No. 1 in Squash to QNA: QTerminals Qatar Classic among Strongest Tournaments Globally
Doha, September 13 (QNA) - Egypt's squash star, Mostafa Asal, the world No. 1, said that the QTerminals Qatar Classic is one of the world's most important and strongest tournaments, given its high-level organization and its featuring of all top-ranked male and female players.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Asal said that he will fight hard to advance in the tournament and give his all to reach the final and stand on the podium in Qatar for the first time in his career.
Having won 29 titles during his professional career, the Egyptian squash star underscored that the Qatar Classic is the only major title among the platinum tournaments that he has yet to win.
Asal hoped that he manages to win this year's title and avoid another finale defeat, as happened in the previous two editions.
He praised the Qatar Classic's surrounding atmosphere and strong turnout and thanked the tournament’s organizing committee and the Qatar Squash Federation for creating an environment that allows athletes to give their best performances.
Players are always delighted to compete in Doha in this atmosphere, Asal affirmed, in front of large crowds, and with the way the organizing committee treats professional players, motivating them to deliver their best.
Egypt's Mostafa Asal advanced to the quarter-finals today with a commanding 3-0 victory over Switzerland's Yannick Wilhelmi.
Asal's upcoming game will be against the winner of the match between his compatriot Aly Abou Eleinen and France's Baptiste Masotti. (QNA)
