Amman, September 10 (QNA) - Qatari national karate team player Abdulrahman Moustafa was crowned with the gold medal in the under-21 category for the under-60 kg weight class during the 24th Asian Cadet, Junior, and Under-21 Karate Championship currently being held in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

The tournament concludes on Friday, with the participation of over 350 male and female athletes representing 30 Asian countries.

Moustafa secured the gold after delivering exceptional performances throughout the tournament.

A bye in the draw advanced him directly to the quarterfinals, where he defeated Chinese Taipei's Shih Po-Yun 11–3.

He then overcame Saudi Arabia's Sultan Al-Masiri 11–7 in the semifinals before advancing to the final to defeat India's Viraj Saini 4–1, claiming the gold medal while his opponent took silver.

Yesterday, fellow Qatari team member Hassan Mansour earned the silver medal in the youth category for the over-76 kg weight class, bringing Qatar's total medal haul at the championship to two: one gold and one silver.

Qatar is represented at the championship by Abdulrahman Moustafa (under-21, under-60 kg) and Hassan Mansour (youth, over-76 kg), with the delegation headed by Rashid Al-Hajri, Assistant Secretary-General of the Qatar Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Federation.

The 24th edition of the Asian Karate Championship features kata and kumite competitions for cadets, juniors, and under-21 athletes, drawing wide participation from across the continent in one of the premier Asian events for age-group divisions. (QNA)
