Washington, September 01 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting, held in Asheville, North Carolina, in the United States.
HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari headed Qatar's delegation to a series of sessions held as part of the meeting, which addressed a number of priority economic and financial issues on the agenda, including developments in the global economy and growth prospects, the role of the private sector in supporting economic activity, developments in the banking sector, artificial intelligence and digital assets, as well as monetary policies, sovereign debt, economic imbalances, financial literacy and combating fraud.
During his participation in the sessions, HE the Minister of Finance emphasized the importance of maintaining international coordination and cooperation to address global economic and financial challenges, strengthen the stability of the international financial system, and support sustainable and inclusive growth. He also underscored the importance of fostering an enabling environment for the private sector, encouraging innovation, and harnessing technological developments to enhance competitiveness and support economic development.
In this context, HE the Minister highlighted that conflicts undermine economic growth by disrupting trade and increasing energy and transport costs, thereby exacerbating inflationary pressures and adversely affecting investment, particularly in emerging economies.
He stressed the importance of strengthening international cooperation, reaffirming the State of Qatar's commitment to supporting global energy security and market stability, as well as fostering economic partnerships that promote integration and help address geopolitical challenges. (QNA)
