Doha, August 09 (QNA) - The National Planning Council (NPC), in cooperation with the Qatar Scientific Club of the Ministry of Sports and Youth and with the participation of Microsoft Qatar, organized the activities of the second edition of the Data Summer Camp 2026, from August 8 to 12, with the participation of about 40 high school students, male and female.
The camp aims to prepare a generation with future skills in data and digital transformation, in support of the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV 2030), through an educational experience that combines theoretical knowledge and practical application over five days.
It also aims to raise awareness of the importance of data among high school students, introduce them to national and open data and the national data program, and enable them to transform analytical results into applicable ideas and initiatives that contribute to addressing national challenges, and enhance their ability to employ digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) in supporting development and establishing a culture of data-driven decision-making.
The program includes training participants on the basics of data, its processing, quality verification, analysis, and the extraction of indicators and insights from it, in addition to designing interactive dashboards using Power BI and AI techniques.
Regarding the organization of the summer data camp, Director of the Statistical and Data Training Center at NPC Hessa Ali Al Malkiآ said that organizing the camp reflects the NPC's commitment to establishing a data culture among young people and preparing national cadres capable of using data to support development and decision-making.
She said that the Data Summer Camp is one of the quality initiatives that the NPC is keen to implement in cooperation with its partners, based on our belief that data has become a fundamental pillar in planning and public policy-making. The program provides students with the opportunity to learn about the National Data Program, acquire data analysis skills, and build dashboards, enabling them to transform data into practical insights and initiatives that support national priorities and contribute to achieving QNV 2030, she added.
For her part, the supervisor of the Data Summer Camp program, Eng. Hessa Al Najjar, said that the Qatar Scientific Club's hosting of the camp comes within the framework of its efforts to build the capabilities of young people in the fields of science, technology and innovation, and to provide interactive educational environments that keep pace with the rapid changes in the digital world, stressing the importance of the partnership with the NPC and Microsoft Qatar in preparing a generation that possesses the skills of the future.
Microsoft Qatar provides practical experience with the latest data analysis tools and AI technologies, enhancing participants' ability to work with modern digital technologies and keep pace with global developments in data science.
The launch of the second edition of the camp continues the partnership among the participating entities to invest in young national talent, establish a culture of innovation and digital transformation, and support the move towards a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy. (QNA)
