Tripoli, August 08 (QNA) - A drone slammed into an untreated naphtha storage tank at Libya's Zawiya refinery Saturday, Azzawiya Oil Refining Company said in a statement.

The statement added that the impact caused a leak after the drone exploded at the tank wall, emphasizing that the situation had been held in check and the leakage was stopped, with no blazes or casualties onsite.

The statement appealed to all parties to protect the firm's facilities from all clashes and armed manifestations, as the refinery, its operations and equipment are significant and sensitive.

The company further stressed that the safety of operators and facilities, along with the continuation of production operations at the refinery, are overriding priorities, calling for all essential measures to be taken by the relevant authorities to safeguard the safety of the company's facilities and operators.

It also called for preventing any risks that could imperil the security and stability of the refinery and its perimeter. (QNA)
