Doha, August 07 (QNA) - The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) is participating in the 2026 International Conference on Peace Among Followers of Religions, being held in Malacca, Malaysia, as a principal organizing partner.

The conference's official proceedings are set to begin tomorrow, Saturday.

The conference will focus on a theme of Malacca and Malaysia as a meeting point for faith, culture, diversity, and harmony, toward building a cohesive society. The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue is participating as a principal organizing partner for the second consecutive year, following its participation in the previous edition, hosted in the Malaysian state of Penang in 2025.

The conference aims to provide an international platform for exchanging expertise on promoting peace and coexistence, exploring the role of shared values in building bridges of understanding among followers of different religions and cultures, and producing recommendations that support the development of cohesive societies.

HE Chairman of the Board of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi said the Center's participation as a principal organizing partner reflects its commitment to expanding international partnerships and promoting dialogue among religions and cultures, in line with the State of Qatar's mission of fostering dialogue and mutual understanding among peoples.

He added that the Center's efforts have expanded beyond the local and regional levels, establishing a broad international presence across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, thereby reinforcing Qatar's position as an active partner in promoting global peace.

The Center's delegation is headed by board member Dr. Hamed bin Abdulaziz Al Marwani, who will deliver the keynote address on the transformative power of interfaith understanding in building communities, from diversity to acceptance.

The Center will also participate in the conference's academic sessions, where Senior Researcher at the Center Dr. Sekou Marafa Toure, will deliver a presentation during the second plenary session on the obstacles to promoting peace and harmony, and on the role of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue in supporting dialogue, resolving conflicts, and building peace.

The 2026 conference brings together around 150 participants, including religious leaders, government officials, and academics, to discuss mutual understanding among religions as a foundation for peaceful coexistence, respect for diversity and acceptance of others, and stronger cooperation between religious communities and civil society institutions in support of sustainable peace.
