Doha, August 05 (QNA) - As part of its ongoing efforts to advance digital accessibility and empower older persons to independently access and benefit from digital services, Mada Assistive Technology Center delivered two specialized training workshops in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Public Health for participants of the "Our Summer is a Blessing" program, organized by the Ehsan Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly, and coordinated with the Center. The workshops aimed to enhance the digital skills of older persons and enable them to use essential digital service applications efficiently and safely.
This participation reflects Mada Center's strategy to promote universal accessibility and empower persons with disabilities and the elderly to access and benefit from digital services without barriers by building digital capacities and raising awareness of best practices in the use of technology and digital services, thereby enhancing their independence and improving their quality of life.
The two workshops were held as part of the "Our Summer is a Blessing" program in coordination with Ehsan Center, with the participation of 23 female trainees in each workshop. Participants received practical, interactive training focused on the effective and secure use of government and healthcare digital services, encouraging them to confidently integrate technology into their daily lives.
The first workshop, delivered in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, was titled "How to Use the New Metrash Application." It aimed to enable participants to use the application independently and efficiently while introducing them to its key digital government services. The workshop also focused on strengthening participants' digital literacy and raising awareness of cybersecurity best practices and personal data protection.
The workshop included hands-on training on downloading the application, activating user accounts, and using its key electronic services. Individual support was also provided to participants, with trainers addressing their questions to ensure they acquired the practical skills needed to complete their government transactions easily and securely.
The second workshop, delivered in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, focused on the "Labbeh" healthcare application. It aimed to empower participants to access and benefit from digital healthcare services with ease, thereby supporting their digital independence and contributing to an improved quality of life.
The training introduced participants to the application's key features and included practical exercises on its use. It also highlighted the importance of leveraging digital solutions to manage personal healthcare needs while strengthening participants' confidence in using digital health applications safely and effectively.
Commenting on the initiative, Al Anood Al-Ansari, Head of Capacity Building Section at Mada Assistive Technology Center, said: "Empowering older persons with digital skills is a key pillar of Mada Center's efforts to promote universal accessibility. We are committed to equipping them with the knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently and independently access government and healthcare digital services, in line with Qatar's ongoing digital transformation."
She added: "Our training programs place strong emphasis on practical, hands-on learning to ensure that knowledge is translated into skills participants can apply in their daily lives. We also believe that partnerships with national institutions are essential to expanding the impact of these initiatives, reaching target groups more effectively, and achieving sustainable outcomes."
This initiative reflects Mada Center's continued commitment to strengthening its partnerships with national institutions and delivering specialized training programs that promote universal accessibility and empower older persons to independently access and benefit from technology, services, and different environments. In doing so, Mada Center contributes to improving their quality of life and supports the development of a more inclusive and accessible society for all, in line with the Qatar National Vision.
