Cairo, August 05 (QNA) - The Arab Parliament condemned Wednesday the crimes that the Israeli occupation continues to commit in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including the city of Jerusalem, calling for urgent international action to stop the escalation and hold those responsible accountable.
In a statement, Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi indicated that the targeting of hospitals, health facilities, residential homes, and tents of displaced people, which led to the death and injury of dozens of civilians, most of whom were women and children, comes within the framework of the continuation of the war of extermination and the policy of starvation and total destruction pursued by the occupation, in violation of international law, international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and United Nations resolutions.
He added that what the Palestinian people are subjected to is no longer just violations or abuses, but rather constitutes war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in full view of the international community, warning that continued international silence and inaction encourages the occupation to continue its aggressive policies, which threaten regional and international security and stability.
He pointed out that the Israeli escalation in the West Bank, accompanied by attacks carried out by groups of extremist settlers under the protection of the occupation forces, along with settlement expansion, land seizures, and the forced displacement of Palestinians, confirms the occupation government's continued implementation of a plan aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause and imposing illegal realities on the ground.
The Speaker of the Arab Parliament urged the international community, the Security Council, and countries that defend justice and human rights to take urgent and binding measures to stop the war on the Palestinian people, implement international legitimacy resolutions, compel the occupation to implement the ceasefire agreement, move to the second phase of the peace plan in a way that ensures a permanent cessation of aggression, the complete withdrawal of the occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, the opening of the crossings, and ensuring the arrival of sufficient and immediate humanitarian and medical aid.
He also called for enabling the government of the State of Palestine to exercise its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, as a single geographical and political unit, and for imposing international sanctions on the occupation and suspending the privileges, agreements and facilities granted to it until it complies with international law and the resolutions of international legitimacy, demanding that the settlement organizations (extremist settlers and the entities that support and finance them) be included on international terrorism lists, and that the leaders of the occupation be prosecuted before the International Criminal Court, and that the policy of impunity that has encouraged the continuation of crimes be ended.
