Doha, August 30 (QNA) - The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) launched Sunday the "Awal Khutwa - First Step" initiative, which it launched in cooperation with "Rafeeq" company as part of the Back to Schools campaign for the academic year 2026-2027, coinciding with the start of the first day of the new school year.
This came during a visit by HE Undersecretary of the MOEHE Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi to Al Rashad Model School for Boys and Al Bayan First Primary School for Girls, where he reviewed the atmosphere of welcoming the new first-grade primary students. He also inspected a number of classrooms and shared the students' first moments at school, and presented them with gifts from the "First Step" initiative, in an atmosphere that reflected the students' joy and enthusiasm at the beginning of their educational journey.
The initiative targets 10,700 new first-grade students in 103 government primary schools, by providing them with welcome gifts and school supplies accompanied by messages of welcome and encouragement, with the aim of making the first day of school a positive and stimulating experience in the child's life.
In his remarks marking the occasion, HE Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi emphasized that the MOEHE places the student at the heart of its priorities, and is keen to provide an attractive and stimulating educational environment that embraces students from their first day of school.
His Excellency said that the MOEHE wants every boy and girl who crosses the school gate for the first time today to feel that they are the object of attention, care and appreciation, and to realize that the school is their second home that opens its doors to them with love and safety before science and knowledge.
HE the Undersecretary of the MOEHE commended the partnership with the private sector, stressing that the "First Step" initiative reflects the integration of roles between national institutions and the private sector in supporting the educational process and promoting social responsibility, which contributes to raising a qualified and capable generation able to continue the path of development and progress in the State of Qatar.
The "First Step" initiative stems from the MOEHE's keenness to prepare new students to move to the school environment in an atmosphere full of reassurance and joy, and to enhance their sense of belonging from their first day, which contributes to forming a positive image of the school as a safe, supportive and stimulating learning environment.
The importance of the initiative also stems from the belief that early beginnings leave a deep impression on the child's conscience and memory, and contribute to strengthening his self-confidence, his connection to his school and his psychological stability, which is reflected positively on his educational experience in its early stages.
