Nikkei Falls 1% as Stronger Yen Weighs on Markets
Tokyo, August 03 (QNA) - Japan's Nikkei share average fell about 1% on Monday, retreating from a one-week high as a sharp rise in the yen weighed on equities following coordinated intervention by Tokyo and Washington to support the Japanese currency late last week.
The Nikkei 225 ended down about 1% at 63,754.90, while the broader Topix index fell 1.1% to 3,960.03.
Most Nikkei stocks closed lower, with 169 falling and 52 advancing. (QNA)
