Doha, August 03 (QNA) - The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has launched the "Cancer Patients Treatment Endowment" in Doha.

This magnanimous gesture will materialize under the Healthcare Waqf Fund to support the treatment of people with cancer and ensure the sustainability of healthcare services provided to them, in lockstep with the nation's relevant health authorities.

Overall, the Endowment is part of the Directorate's efforts dedicated to enhancing the health system and broadening its domains to address the evolving needs of the community through exploring enduring endowment resources that help support the health sector and strengthen the impact of this benevolent action in assisting those patients.

Director-General of the General Directorate of Endowments Eng. Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouqi said this endowment is literally intended to mitigate financial burdens on people with cancer, emphasizing that it would strive to make medicines and essential medical devices available to them through establishing a permanent endowment source that would ensure sustained care for those in need.

Al Marzouqi added that the endowment will contribute to assuaging the anguish of those patients and their families through income-generating waqf investments whose proceeds are earmarked to underwrite cancer treatment, thereby perpetuating the humanitarian mission and ensuring the enduring sustainability of its beneficence.

Supporting the endowment implies creating long-standing assets to be further leveraged and preserved from which funds will be allocated for those patients on an annual basis, Al Marzouqi highlighted, stating that it will include the purchase of medicines and medical supplies based on approved priorities in tandem with the state health authorities.

The launch of this endowment, Al Marzouqi underlined, is by far a paragon of initiatives that offer benefactors the opportunity to help create a variety of endowment ventures, encompassing real estate, companies, investment ventures, stocks, and other assets that are leveraged and earmarked to treat those afflicted with cancer.

He stated that the move will ensure perpetual giving and an enduring development impact, as the waqf law allows individuals to endow real estate, personal property, stocks, securities, and other eligible assets.

In essence, the establishment of this endowment stems from the Directorate's belief in top-tier health services as one of the components of societal flourishing, epitomizing a magnanimous form of societal engagement in backing this critical sector through sustainable health initiatives. (QNA)
