Inter Miami Sign Kelly Gonzalez
Washington, August 28 (QNA) - Inter Miami, the reigning Major League Soccer (MLS) champions, announced the appointment of Argentine Kelly Gonzales as the new head coach of the first team, as the club seeks to return to winning ways following a recent dip in form.
The club said in a statement that Gonzalez will officially take charge once he obtains the necessary work permits in the United States, with fellow Argentine Guillermo Hoyos continuing to lead the team on an interim basis until the new coach and his staff arrive.
The 52-year-old Gonzalez is from the Argentine city of Rosario, the birthplace of Inter Miami captain and Argentine star Lionel Messi. During his playing career, he had notable spells with Spanish clubs Valencia and Real Zaragoza, as well as Inter Milan of Italy.
Gonzalez also made 56 international appearances for Argentina between 1995 and 2005, before moving into coaching in 2020. He has since managed Argentine clubs Rosario Central, Union and Platense. (QNA)
