Kathmandu, August 28 (QNA) - The death toll from flash floods and mudslides that swept through border areas between Nepal and China has risen to 469, while rescue teams continue searching for missing people in the affected regions.

Nepalese police reported that search operations are concentrated near the border with China, after the disaster, which struck on Wednesday along the border between Nepal and Tibet, claimed hundreds of lives.

The previous toll stood at 390 deaths in Nepal and three in Tibet, while officials reported that more than 1,400 people were missing in the two regions as a result of the disaster.

Meanwhile, Nepalese authorities announced that hundreds of people were rescued, while dozens of injured individuals are receiving medical treatment in Kathmandu. They explained that among the missing are citizens of several countries, many of whom are hiking enthusiasts.

On the other side of the border, Chinese state media said that the number of missing persons in Gyirong County in Tibet had risen to 558, including 260 foreigners, while the death toll remained at three. (QNA)
