Doha, August 26 (QNA) - The Ministry of Municipality has opened three new parks in Al Wakrah and Al Wukair.
The parks were developed in coordination with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) in accordance with the highest international standards, supporting the Ministry's 2024-2030 Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030 by expanding green spaces, enhancing quality of life, and providing a sustainable and healthy environment for citizens and residents.
The opening was attended by HE Chairman of the Central Municipal Council Mohammed bin Ali Al Athba, Assistant Undersecretary for General Services Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality Eng. Abdullah Ahmed Al Karani, several department directors at the Ministry of Municipality, and representatives of Ashghal.
The three parks were named Al Mashmoum, Al Khuzama and Al Arak, drawing inspiration from the local environment. The names reflect efforts to strengthen Qatari identity, highlight the country's environmental and cultural heritage, and preserve local names by using them in public facilities for future generations.
On the occasion, Eng. Al Karani said the opening of the new parks formed part of the Ministry of Municipality's ongoing efforts to improve public services and facilities and expand the development of parks and recreational spaces, helping provide a healthy and sustainable environment serving all segments of society.
Al Karani said the parks were designed around residents' needs and feature green spaces and a variety of facilities that combine recreation, sports, and relaxation, thereby enhancing quality of life and encouraging community members to adopt healthy lifestyles and engage in outdoor physical activities.
He added that the projects reflected the Ministry's commitment to distributing green and recreational facilities across different areas, allowing residents to access parks and benefit from their facilities close to their homes. He affirmed that work would continue to develop the network of parks and public facilities in line with the community's aspirations.
In the same context, Director of the Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sada said the new parks were neighborhood parks designed to provide the most essential amenities, including sports facilities, jogging tracks and children's play areas.
The three parks form part of the Ministry of Municipality's efforts to provide green spaces and integrated public facilities and enhance the attractiveness of residential areas, contributing to environmental sustainability, encouraging sports and community activities, and providing suitable recreational destinations for all members of the family.
