European Commission Joins List of Entities Condemning Israeli Settlement Project (E1) in Occupied West Bank
Brussels, August 21 (QNA) - The European Commission today joined the list of entities condemning the Israeli occupation's announcement of tenders for the construction of a settlement project known as (E1) in the occupied West Bank.
Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in a post on the X platform, "The Israeli government's decision to issue tenders for the construction of the 'E1' settlement project is unacceptable," adding, "We have long opposed this step."
France, Britain, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Canada, and Norway had called on the Israeli occupation yesterday (Thursday) to immediately abandon its plans for the new settlement project and halt the expansion of settlements in the occupied West Bank.
The seven countries, in a joint statement, affirmed that the occupation's decision was "unacceptable," stressing the international community's long-standing opposition to settlement expansion in the West Bank and its call for its immediate cessation. (QNA)
