Russian Defense Ministry Announces Interception of 726 Ukrainian Drones
Moscow, August 20 (QNA) - Russia's Defense Ministry said today that its air defense systems intercepted 726 Ukrainian drones overnight in Russian airspace and over the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
In a statement, the ministry said the interceptions took place over the territories of the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Samara, Saratov, Tambov, Tula, and Ulyanovsk regions, as well as the Moscow region, Krasnodar Krai, Crimea, and the Republic of Tatarstan, and over the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
The ministry also noted the daily attacks launched by Ukrainian forces against residential areas, vital civilian infrastructure, industrial facilities, and energy installations in Russian border regions and deep inside Russia, using drones and missiles.
It also confirmed that its forces targeted a Flamingo cruise missile component factory, other military industrial facilities, logistics centers, and warehouses in Kyiv and its surrounding region in the morning, in retaliation for attacks on Russian territory.
It is worth noting that both sides in the conflict have increasingly relied on drones in their attacks in recent months, a new military tactic that avoids further casualties, especially as the war enters its fourth year with no end in sight to the crisis, which has cast a shadow over global trade in oil, grain, and vegetable oils.
