Palestinian Presidency Warns of Dangerous Israeli Escalation in Occupied Territories, Regional Repercussions
Ramallah, August 20 (QNA) - The Palestinian Presidency warned on Thursday of the dangers of Israeli escalation in the occupied territories and its repercussions for the region.
Spokesperson for the Palestinian Presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh stressed in a statement that the dangerous settlement tenders in the rejected and condemned E1 area, along with the escalating settler terrorism and daily killings, are pushing the situation toward an uncontrollable state. He asserted that, as a result of these aggressive Israeli policies toward the Palestinian people, the region is on the brink of a dangerous and uncontrollable situation.
He also emphasized that there can be no lasting peace or stability without Jerusalem and the complete end of the Israeli occupation, noting that the failure to recognize international law will keep the region in a cycle of endless wars and conflicts.
He emphasized that any piecemeal projects or plans lacking a genuine political vision will not achieve security or peace for anyone, and there is no alternative to ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. He explained that with the erosion of trust in statements of condemnation and denunciation, the international community must work diligently to defuse the ongoing crises and relentless wars, and take serious and concrete steps to compel the occupying authorities to cease their aggression, respect international law, and fully implement international resolutions.
The E1 project is a dangerous Israeli settlement plan located between the settlements of Ma'ale Adumim and Pisgat Ze'ev in Area C, which is under Israeli control. It extends over an area of approximately 12 square kilometers between the towns of Anata, Al-Issawiya, Al-Za'im, Al-Eizariya, and Abu Dis, between East Jerusalem and Ma'ale Adumim settlement. Its aim is to link the settlement to Jerusalem and isolate the city from its surroundings, thus dividing the West Bank into two parts and definitively eliminating the possibility of establishing a contiguous Palestinian state.
