Doha, August 19 (QNA) - The development of Qatar Aeronautical Academy in Ras Abu Abboud is taking shape, as the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) continues to implement the project as part of its efforts to advance educational and training infrastructure based on the highest international standards.
The project aims to support the development of qualified national talent to help chart the future of the aviation sector and strengthen Qatar's stature as a leading regional hub for aviation, education, and specialized training.
In a statement Wednesday, Ashghal said the project's features are now taking shape on the ground, noting that it includes design and construction works within the academy campus, as well as the construction of several specialized facilities that provide an integrated environment for education and training.
These literally include the Flight Operations and Pilot Training Building and the Air Traffic Control Simulation and Airport Operations Management Building, providing students and trainees with state-of-the-art facilities that support practical training and simulation in accordance with approved standards in the aviation sector.
The project also features the construction of a hangar for the Aircraft Support Services Unit at Doha International Airport, supporting the academy's training and operational needs and fostering the integration of its specialized facilities.
As part of the upgrading of the educational and residential environment for students, the authority explained, the works include developing student accommodation buildings, increasing their capacity and enhancing the quality of residential facilities.
This is in addition to developing an integrated master plan for the academy campus to optimize the use of available spaces and facilitate the movement of students, trainees, and staff throughout the academy.
The project evidently pursues Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) standards through upgrading systems and infrastructure, improving energy and water efficiency, enhancing indoor environmental quality, using more sustainable materials, and deploying smart solutions that help reduce the environmental impact and improve the operational efficiency of the facilities over the long run.
This ongoing development is part of the authority's efforts dedicated to supporting the development of educational and training facilities at home by providing sophisticated infrastructure that meets the needs of specialized institutions and keeps pace with the rapid evolution in critical sectors, including aviation.
