Japanese Stocks Decline Following Weak GDP data
Tokyo, August 17 (QNA) - Japanese shares traded mostly lower on Monday, weighed down by weaker-than-expected GDP data and the continued impact of Middle East tensions on inflation and bond yields.
The broader Topix index fell 0.31%, reaching 4,184.11 points, while the benchmark Nikkei 225 closed 0.74% higher at 69,220.25 points.
Kioxia Holdings was the top gainer, rising 15.07%, while Trend Micro suffered the biggest losses, dropping 8.53%.
The decline came as investors assessed the government data revealed on Monday, showing Japan's economy grew at an annualized rate of 1.1% in the April-June quarter, below the 2.0% median forecast. (QNA)
