Syria-Russia Direct Flights Resume Through Damascus International Airport
Damascus, August 16 (QNA) - The first inbound flight operated by Syrian Airlines arrived Sunday at Damascus International Airport from Moscow, Russia, marking the resumption of scheduled direct flights between Syria and Russia for the first time since late 2024.
President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation Omar Al Hosari said the carrier is regaining its presence on the regional and global aviation map in a move to reconnect Syria with the world.
The move, he added, would open up additional direct destinations, offering broader travel options for citizens as part of a comprehensive plan to expand its operational network and strengthen air connectivity.
Al Hosari emphasized that the upcoming period will feature the return of Syrian Airlines to several regional and international destinations, including new European ones that would be announced successively.
The first direct flight from Berlin, Germany, arrived at Damascus International Airport yesterday, Saturday, after an interruption of nearly 14 years, signaling the resumption of air connectivity between Damascus and Berlin. (QNA)
