Arsenal Beat Manchester City 3-0 to Lift Community Shield
London, August 16 (QNA) - Arsenal won the English Community Shield after beating Manchester City 3-0 in their season curtain-raiser at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, to open the new 2026-2027 season.
Arsenal's goals came from Italian Riccardo Calafiori, who scored just 23 seconds after kickoff to become the fastest scorer in the tournament's history, followed by German Kai Havertz in the 28th minute, while Norwegian Martin Odegaard added Arsenal's third goal in the 48th minute to strengthen their lead.
Arsenal lifted the trophy for the 18th time in their history, strengthening their position among the competition's most successful clubs, with Manchester United leading the list with a record 21 titles.
The title also marked Arsenal's first trophy of the new season, in which they will look to compete for multiple honors, foremost among them defending the Premier League title they won last season. (QNA)
