Japan's Nikkei Rises to 4-Week High
Tokyo, August 10 (QNA) - The Japanese Nikkei index rose 2.08 percent on Monday, closing at its highest level in about four weeks, supported by gains in artificial intelligence and semiconductor stocks.
Nikkei rose to 66,970.22 points, its highest closing level since July 15, while the broader Topix index rose 0.63 percent to 4,100.61 points.
Shares of semiconductor makers Advantest and Tokyo Electron rose 6.43 percent and 4.13 percent, respectively, while shares of optical-fiber cable maker Fujikura jumped 7.62 percent.
Ibiden, a supplier to Nvidia in the field of AI, also rose 4.03 percent, while Recruit Holdings jumped 22.79 percent, whereas shares of Mitsui Kinzoku, which manufactures materials for lithium-ion batteries, fell 13.55 percent. (QNA)
