Washington, July 07 (QNA) - Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp has introduced a new "Paid Partnership" feature for Channel administrators, allowing them to clearly identify sponsored posts and commercial collaborations as part of the company's efforts to enhance advertising transparency and comply with evolving digital disclosure standards.

According to WhatsApp update tracker WABetaInfo, the feature enables Channel administrators to add a "Paid Partnership" label to sponsored posts published under commercial agreements, clearly informing followers when content has been created as part of a paid collaboration.

The label can be added by selecting a Channel post and choosing the "Add Paid Partnership" option. Once applied, it is displayed across Android, iOS, web, and desktop versions of WhatsApp, ensuring consistent disclosure regardless of the platform.

The label is permanent and cannot be removed after publication. To remove it, Channel administrators must delete the original post and republish it without the designation.

The feature reflects WhatsApp's broader strategy to develop Channels into a more structured platform for creators, brands, and businesses while supporting compliance with increasingly stringent global standards governing sponsored-content disclosure. It also complements Meta's broader monetization initiatives for WhatsApp, including Channel subscriptions, promoted Channels, and advertising in the Updates tab.

The feature is being rolled out gradually through recent WhatsApp updates and is expected to become available to more Channel administrators in the coming weeks. (QNA)
