With Qatar's Participation, Arab League Chief Outlines Vision to Revamp Joint Arab Action
Cairo, July 05 (QNA) - Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil Fahmy outlined his perspective on the upcoming period, along with the priorities of the operation of the General Secretariat of the Arab League, in pursuit of advancing its performance and the joint Arab action system.
This came during a meeting with the permanent representatives of the Arab League convened at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo on Sunday.
HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Arab Republic of Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Thani, participated in this meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Fahmy underlined that advancing the Arab League and its strategic repositioning are a collective responsibility based on the full partnership between the General Secretariat of the Arab League and the member states.
What matters more, Fahmy stressed, is to pursue a practical approach that identifies priorities, lays out applicable steps, and persistently follows up on the action outcomes.
He briefed the permanent representatives on the content of the letter he addressed to Arab foreign ministers on the occasion of formally assuming his duties.
Fahmy outlined the priorities of the upcoming phase, alongside his perspective to upgrade the performance of the Arab League and the joint Arab action.
He also highlighted a range of suggestions that aim to upscale the General Secretariat’s institutional performance, thereby supporting its ability to discharge its duties and keep up with upcoming requirements.
As such, Fahmy emphatically noted that the continuation of support from member states and fulfillment of their obligations toward the Arab League would surely drive the success of these efforts.
The meeting featured an exchange of perspectives on the priorities of the upcoming phase, with the representatives congratulating the Secretary-General of the Arab League on assuming his position.
The representatives underscored that they support the thrust Fahmy laid out, emphasizing that their countries look forward to close collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Arab League, which ultimately helps foster the efficiency of the Arab League and its performance and drive joint Arab action for the interests and aspirations of member states and their peoples.
