2026 FIFA World Cup: England Beat Mexico to Set Up Norway Quarterfinal
Mexico City, July 06 (QNA) - England advanced to the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup 2026 with a 3-2 victory over hosts Mexico in their Round of 16 clash at Azteca Stadium on Sunday, setting up a last-eight showdown with Norway.
Jude Bellingham scored twice in the first half, finding the net in the 36th and 38th minutes, before Julian Quinones pulled one back for Mexico to leave England with a 2-1 halftime lead.
England played the final 37 minutes with 10 men after defender Jarell Quansah was sent off in the 53rd minute, but captain Harry Kane converted a penalty seven minutes later to restore the two-goal cushion.
Raul Jimenez struck late for Mexico, but the hosts were unable to find an equalizer as England held on to reach the quarterfinals.
England will face Norway next Sunday for a place in the semifinals after the Scandinavian side reached the last eight for the first time in their history with a 2-1 victory over Brazil. (QNA)
