QSCCB Holds Awareness Workshop on Handling Emergency, Evacuation Situations
Doha, July 28 (QNA) - The Qatar Social and Cultural Center for Blind (QSCCB) held, with the cooperation of the General Directorate of Civil Defence, an awareness workshop on handling emergency and evacuation situations for persons with disabilities (PWDs) at the Center's headquarters.
The workshop was organized to increase understanding of safety when it comes to PWDs and raise awareness of proper procedures when facing different emergency situations to best safeguard lives and properties.
First Lieutenant Khalil Rashid Al Naimi presented the workshop with affiliates from the General Directorate of Civil Defence. They showcased the Civil Defence's role in protecting lives and properties and key safety steps during incidents. The officials emphasized the importance of maintaining calmness and making proper calls during such incidents.
The participants were introduced to safety and evacuation procedures in establishments, the most notable causes of fire, and fire extinguishers and blankets. The instructors stressed the importance of preparing safety tools ahead of time.
The workshop was wrapped up by answering the inquiries of the participants who expressed the importance of holding relevant awareness programs to better educate people on prevention and safety, as well as empower PWDs to handle emergency situations with confidence and complete understanding. (QNA)
