Doha, July 27 (QNA) - The National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (NCCHT) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Qatar Lawyers Association to enhance the protection of human trafficking victims, provide them with legal assistance and support, and ensure their access to legal counsel and representation, thereby safeguarding their rights and facilitating their access to justice.

Under the MoU, both parties will strengthen cooperation, uphold the human dignity of human trafficking victims before the law and the judiciary, and leverage their mutual capabilities and expertise. This initiative aims to develop the legal aid system while empowering victims, vulnerable groups, and low-income individuals to access justice and seek free legal redress.

The MoU stipulates periodic consultations between the two sides to monitor implementation, evaluate progress, and exchange information and expertise on issues of common interest. Furthermore, it establishes a regulatory framework for legal aid provided by law firms affiliated with the Qatar Lawyers Association, guaranteeing necessary protection for victims.

The signing falls within NCCHT's ongoing efforts, in partnership with public and private sector entities, to combat and eradicate human trafficking in all its forms across all groups and segments. It supports the country's integrated national strategic framework against human trafficking and contributes to building a secure society rooted in justice, benevolence, and equality, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
