Qatar Strongly Condemns Iranian Attacks on Its Territory and Neighboring States
Doha, July 17 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has strongly condemned renewed attacks by Iran on its territory, as well as on the territories of Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, slamming them as a "flagrant violation" of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries concerned.
In a statement on Friday, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attacks constituted a serious breach of international law, the United Nations Charter and the principles of good neighborly relations.
The ministry said the continuation of such attacks represented a grave escalation that could undermine efforts to contain regional tensions and weaken political and diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving security and stability in the Middle East.
Qatar said it held Iran fully responsible under international law for the attacks and for any resulting consequences.
The ministry added that Qatar reserved "its full right to respond" in accordance with international law and Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. It said the country would take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity and the safety of its citizens.
The statement also reaffirmed Qatar's solidarity with Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, expressing support for any lawful measures they take to protect their sovereignty and national security.
Qatar called for an immediate and comprehensive halt to all military actions and attacks that threaten regional stability, urging all parties to avoid further escalation and to return to dialogue and negotiations while adhering to understandings reached through diplomatic efforts. (QNA)
