China Announces Creation of World AI Cooperation Organization
Beijing, July 17 (QNA) - Chinese President Xi Jinping announced on Friday the establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization, stressing the need for international cooperation to address challenges arising from the rapid advancement of AI technologies.
Speaking at the opening of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2026 and the High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance in Shanghai, Xi said the world is entering an unprecedented phase of AI innovation, creating significant opportunities while also presenting new governance challenges.
He highlighted key questions facing the international community, including how to ensure effective cooperation between humans and intelligent machines, maintain security as algorithms play a greater role in decision-making, address ethical concerns, and bridge the digital divide to ensure the benefits of AI are widely shared.
Xi emphasized that these challenges require collective efforts by countries to develop effective governance frameworks for artificial intelligence. (QNA)
