EU Pledges €20 Million in Aid to Venezuela
Brussels, July 15 (QNA) - The European Union said Wednesday that it will provide additional aid to Venezuela worth €20 million (a ballpark of $22.8 million) to navigate the aftermath of the twin devastating earthquakes that struck parts of the country last June.
In a statement, the EU clarified that this latest financial aid package will be earmarked for purchasing medical equipment and helping search and rescue teams.
The additional assistance comes alongside a €5 million package approved in June and €52 million in aid to Venezuela announced at the beginning of 2026, the bloc recalled.
Two powerful earthquakes struck Caracas and a region about 160 kilometers west of the capital on June 24, killing around 4,700 people and injuring thousands more, according to provisional figures. (QNA)
