Bahrain Condemns Attack on Two Emirati Oil Tankers in Strait of Hormuz
Manama, July 14 (QNA) - Bahrain strongly condemned and denounced the Iranian attack targeting two Emirati oil tankers as they transited the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as an unacceptable assault on the security and safety of international navigation and global energy supplies, in a serious violation of international law, UN Security Council Resolution 2817, and the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, as well as a setback to efforts to de-escalate tensions and strengthen regional security and stability.
In a statement, Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the kingdom's full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and expressed its support for all measures the UAE takes to safeguard its security, sovereignty and vital interests.
The statement renewed Bahrain's call on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities by taking a firm stance to prevent further Iranian attacks, ensure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz without restrictions or the imposition of unlawful fees, and reject the use of the waterway as a tool of pressure or economic coercion.
