Baghdad, July 12 (QNA) - Iraq stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty of all nations and never encroaching upon their security and stability.

In a statement on Sunday, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that it is imperative to comply with the tenets of international law and the United Nations Charter, in addition to refraining from any measures that would escalate tensions or compromise the security and safety of maritime traffic.

Taking all these measures would help consolidate regional security and foster reciprocal trust among the nations of the region. It called for pursuing dialogue and all diplomatic means to resolve disputes, the statement underlined.

It reaffirmed that Baghdad backs all de-escalation efforts that safeguard the security and stability of the region, as well as the common interests of its peoples.

In addition, Iraq said it is concerned about the ongoing tensions and developments that undermine maritime security in the region and their potential impact on regional security and stability, as well as international commercial shipping. (QNA)
