Cairo, July 11 (QNA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, emphasized, during a phone call Saturday, the importance of de-escalating tensions and containing unrest in the region.
They also stressed the need to intensify joint efforts between their two countries to restore the course of negotiations between the United States and Iran and to ensure the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between them, with the aim of reaching a final agreement through dialogue and diplomacy, thereby sparing the region the risks of military escalation.
During the call, both sides also discussed coordination within the framework of the quadrilateral regional mechanism comprising Egypt, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.
They reaffirmed the importance of continuing consultations on the security concerns of the region's countries, while upholding the principles of respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity, refraining from the use of force, and avoiding interference in the internal affairs of other states.
Abdelatty and Fidan also discussed a number of regional issues, foremost among them the Palestinian issue. They reiterated their rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people and stressed the need to halt the escalation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, while ensuring full and unhindered access for humanitarian aid.
In addition, the Egyptian and Turkish Ministers exchanged assessments of developments in Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, and Libya, emphasizing the importance of supporting efforts to achieve security and stability, preserving the unity and sovereignty of state institutions, and contributing to enhanced peace and stability across the region.
