Kinshasa, July 11 (QNA) - Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo said Saturday that the death toll from the Ebola outbreak has risen to 648, while the number of confirmed cases has reached 1,830.
The latest figures include infections and deaths recorded over the past 24 hours, the authorities said.
Health Minister Samuel Roger Kamba said in a statement that the government had expanded the list of provinces officially affected by the Ebola outbreak to include Tshopo and Haut-Uele in the country's north and northeast.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has previously warned that the actual scale of the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo could be two to four times greater than official figures suggest. It added that, in some parts of the country, four out of five new infections are not linked to known cases. (QNA)
