Doha, June 8 (QNA) - The Organizing Committee of the Fourth Gulf Games Doha 2026 honored 280 male and female volunteers during a recognition ceremony held at the headquarters of the Qatar Olympic Committee in appreciation of their outstanding contributions to the successful staging of the event, which was hosted in Doha from May 11 to 22.

The recognition reflects the pivotal role played by volunteers in supporting various organizational and operational aspects of the Games, contributing to the delivery of an exceptional edition that showcased Qatar's advanced sporting infrastructure and its leadership in hosting and organizing major international sporting events.

Opening the ceremony, Chairman of the Volunteers Committee, Ahmed Al Jaber expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to all volunteers for their dedication and commitment throughout the Games.

He praised their vital contributions across a wide range of organizational and operational functions, from welcoming delegations and assisting athletes and spectators to supporting work teams at competition venues and sports facilities. Their efforts, he said, helped deliver a seamless and memorable sporting experience for all participants.

Al Jaber emphasized that volunteers were among the key pillars behind the success of the Games and true partners in achieving its objectives. He noted that their commitment, sense of responsibility, and positive spirit reflected the highest values of volunteerism, teamwork, and community service.

Speaking on behalf of the volunteers, Hassan Al Tamimi, a volunteer with special needs, expressed his gratitude to the organizing committee for providing opportunities for all segments of society to participate in the Gulf sporting event.

He noted that the volunteer experience contributed to the development of participants' administrative, organizational, and technical skills, while also enhancing their personal and professional experience. He added that volunteers look forward to contributing to future sporting events and championships hosted by Qatar.

For her part, volunteer Iman Mohammed Al Fawzai, a teacher at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, described her participation in the Games as an exceptional experience that enriched her knowledge and broadened her personal horizons.

She commended the high level of organization and professional coordination that contributed to the success of the event and highlighted the opportunity to build connections with individuals from diverse nationalities and cultures through a volunteer framework that reflects the values of openness, inclusion, and social cohesion.

Volunteer registration for the Fourth Gulf Games Doha 2026 was conducted through the "Al Adaam" Volunteer Platform, launched by the Qatar Olympic Committee. The integrated and sustainable digital platform is dedicated to managing volunteer programs by registering volunteers, assigning tasks, and coordinating their roles across various sporting events hosted by the country.

The platform represents one of the committee's strategic initiatives aimed at promoting a culture of volunteerism and advancing sustainability principles. It supports the organization of numerous major sporting events, including the 2026 Half Marathon, the Fourth Gulf Games Doha 2026, the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup, the 2029 FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship, and the Doha 2030 Asian Games, ensuring effective volunteer workforce management and enhancing participant experiences in line with the highest organizational standards.
