New European Sanctions Could Be Imposed on Israeli Settlers, Says French FM
Paris, June 07 (QNA) - New European sanctions could be imposed in the coming days on Israeli settlers who committed acts of aggression against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said on Sunday.
Barrot shared that European nations could go further in taking this action, stressing that he is profoundly alarmed by the unlawful expansion of settlements in the West Bank and the growing acts of violence perpetrated by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.
For years, and perhaps for decades, such acts have never been witnessed, he added, highlighting that the sanctions imposed in May 2026, for the third time at the European level, were likewise a vehicle to call on the occupation government to shoulder its responsibilities regarding such acts of violence.
Barrot further noted that the E1 settlement plan unveiled by the occupation government to build thousands of residential units on 12 square kilometers in the West Bank imperils the territorial contiguity of any future Palestinian state.
He stated that this plan represents a significant menace to the two-state solution.
Last May, the EU took measures that froze the assets of three individuals and four entities and banned their entry into the EU due to dangerous and systematic violations in the West Bank. (QNA)
